Script Text

This is a crowded road, but a very smooth and easy one--wide enough for all our old companions, our drinks and feasts, and our worldly pleasures, too! I hated to see my friend take that steep, narrow road back there where there was a gate, and the words, "The Narrow Road that Leads to Life." But this is the road for me. Uh, I see a sign--"There is a way that seemeth right unto man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death." And across the way is another, "The Broad Road that Leadeth to Destruction." But the crowds don't pay any attention to those gloomy signs--nor do I believe them, either. (Pause 5 sec, crowds and music)
The going is all downhill, but the road is getting rougher now. There is another of those signs marked from the Bible, "And sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." Ugh, death. I wish they wouldn't speak of death. (Pause 3 sec, dramatic music)
The load on my back begins to feel very heavy. Ah, another signpost--"Let the wicked forsake his way, and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy on him." I could turn back here, but there go the crowds, gaily on. (Pause 3 sec; footsteps). So shall I. (Pause 5 sec., storm).
That sudden storm is bringing me into deep darkness. I don't like the way the lightning flashes as though the heavens were angry. Oh, I'm caught in mire! I'm slipping down into a black pit of smoke and anguish; would that I had turned back to the straight path! Too late! Too late! (pause 3 sec., music)
"But for the unbelieving, their part shall be in the lake of fire." (Pause 3 sec., musical interlude)

Ah, my friend, I wish you had come with me on this narrow road. It is a good road, strewn with flowers and gladdened by the songs of the birds. My heart is full of happiness. I left my heavy burden of sin at the feet of Jesus, there at the gate where I entered on this way. This road is a path of light that shines more and more unto the city of God (pause 3 sec., hymn music).
That lion, called temptation, is a real danger! He is not chained, and is coming very near! But the One who is my help is here. Even the lion is harmless before His might; His name is Jesus. This Saviour Who gave His life for me on the cross, is Himself my Guide. My soul sings, "Thou wilt show me the path of life, and in Thy presence is fulness of joy; and at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
Now, at last at the gates of the city, I hear music! It is the voice of my Saviour Who led me here, saying, "Come, blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you." (Pause 3 sec., music)
"There shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, but only they that are written in the Lamb's Book of Life." ... Therefore, "Enter in by the narrow gate: for broad is the gate and wide is the road that leads to destruction, and many are they who go in by it; but the gate is narrow, and the road is steep which leads to life, and few there be that find it."
