Script Text
Title ideas:Jesus displayed [showed] his great power.Jesus stops [stills] a storm.Jesus did what only God can do.Is Jesus God?
One day, Jesus was teaching his disciples. In the evening [afternoon], they boarded [entered] a boat on a lake [big water].
Jesus said, “Let us go to the other [opposite] side of the lake.” So, they put up a sail [tarp] and let the wind push them across the water. Jesus lay down in the boat, and fell asleep.
As they were going, a very strong wind began to blow, pushing water into their boat. So much water came in, that their boat began to sink [go down into the water].
Jesus’ disciples became afraid. So they woke him up and shouted: “Sir! [Lord!] Save [yourself and] us, so we won’t drown!”
So, Jesus stood up and rebuked [commanded] the wind and the water [waves], saying, “Wind, be quiet! Water, be still!”
Immediately, the wind stopped blowing and the water became calm.
Then Jesus turned to [faced] his disciples and said, “Why were you afraid? [They replied nothing, so he said,] You need to trust in me!”
Jesus’ words made them more afraid than they were before. Some asked, “Who is this man [Jesus]?” Others said, “He commands the wind and the water [waves], and they obey him!”
Another day, [when they were again on land,] some men led [brought] to Jesus another man. A demon [evil spirit] had made this man blind and mute [not able to see nor to speak].
Jesus healed the man, so he could see and speak, again. All the people were amazed, and many said, “Maybe Jesus is a descendent [son] of our King David. Maybe Jesus is the Messiah whom we have been waiting for [expecting].”
But some other people [Pharisees] said secretly [privately], “No! This man [Jesus] gets his power from Satan, the chief demon [evil spirit] who rules over other demons! This is why Jesus is able to command demons to get out!”
Jesus knew what those people [Pharisees] were saying [thinking] about him. So he said, “If the demons fight against themselves, then they will lose their power.
“If I command demons to get out by Satan’s power, then you too, it is by Satan’s power that you people tell [command] demons to get out by Satan’s power.”
“But [actually] I cast out demons by God’s power. This shows [proves] that God has already sent me to become your Messiah.”
These true stories show that Jesus is stronger than Satan, and that Jesus can save [rescue] people from Satan’s power.
